ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS

At your first visit, I hear your story and take a detailed history. It is important to understand the sequence of events leading up to now.  There are no two people the same and many factors can contribute to your pain or injury.  Once I have a full understanding, I develop your treatment plan aimed at achieving the functional goals we set together.

TREATMENT & THERAPY

Treatment forms an integral part of my approach to treating the whole body, not just a complaint in isolation.  Treatment varies from person to person, based upon their needs.  A combination of hands on therapy, dry needling or electro-therapy may be used to ease symptoms and pain, but ultimately the personalised rehabilitation plan is fundamental to ensuring my patients’ long-term health and wellness.

PERSONALISED REHABILITATION

I take the time to understand the root of your problem in order to provide the best and most effective treatment. Rehabilitation is an essential component for a full recovery and to prevent the re-occurrance or development of new issues.  Full commitment is required from the Client in order to achieve long term results.

SPORTS/REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage is one form of massage therapy that focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue in the body. Some of the same strokes as classic massage therapy may be used, but the movement is generally slower and the pressure will be deeper and concentrated on the areas where the patient feels tension and pain.

I am trained to be able to go deeper than just the muscle and in a lot of cases will also perform some mobilisations to the underlying joints and ligaments.   Sports/Remedial massage is particularly beneficial for stress relief, headaches, pre and post event muscle recovery and loss of flexibility and mobility.

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING

Functional Movement Screening (FMS) is a series of physical tests which determine:

  •  The range of movement around your joints.

  •  The strength of your various muscle groups.

  •  The degree of flexibility of your muscles.

  • Your level of co-ordination.

  • Your balance.

  • Your risk of Injury due to weakness or poor biomechanics.

The test is comprised of six fundamental movement patterns that require strength, balance and coordination. The tests are designed to highlight any weaknesses or imbalance that you might have, and to highlight possible risk of injury. If you continue to perform movements incorrectly due to weakness or muscle imbalance you will reinforce poor movement patterns and overload weaker muscle groups increasing your risk of injury.  This is particularly useful to sports people when used off season to identify and resolve any issues present.
